How Does 5G Networks Work?

Are 5G networks different from 4G?

How Does 5G Networks Work? Complete Guide

After years of noise some developed countries launched high speed 5G networks early in 2019.

This high speed which is expected to turn our lives upside down, promises faster download speeds at a rate of 10 to 20.

Once more than what we have

But what difference will these networks make in our lives.

Does this mean that we will need new phones that support the technology.

Exactly what are 5G networks?

It is the next generation  the fifth generation of mobile high speed internet connection

That promises faster data download and upload speeds wider coverage and more stable connections.

It’s all about better using the radio spectrum and enabling more devices to access the mobile Internet at the same time.

What can we do with 5G?

According to Ian Vogue of Open Signal a company that analyzes mobile data:

Everything we do now using our smartphones, we will be able to do it but faster and better performance

“Think about smart glasses that feature AR technology,

mobile virtual reality high quality video and the internet among the things that make cities more advanced and smarter.

“The exciting thing is all the new services that will be built on the fifth generation networks, which are unpredictable

fire assessment and traffic control all communicating wireless with each other and with fixed ground base stations via 5G networks.

Likewise many believe that 5G technology will be necessary for self driving vehicles to communicate with each other and read live map and traffic data.

More realistically, mobile players will notice less delay when pressing a button on the console and seeing the effect on the screen.

Portable videos will be almost instant and flawless.

The video calls will also become clearer and less jammed.

Also, wearable fitness devices can monitor your health in real time

and alert physicians as soon as any emergency medical symptom appears.

How does 5G work?

There are a few new technologies that the new technology is likely to be applied to.

The high frequency bands 3.5GHz to 26GHz and beyond have great power but their shorter

wavelengths mean that their range is less,

they are easily obscured by physical objects.

Therefore we may see groups of small telephone antennas closer to the Earth transferring so called millimeter waves between much larger numbers of transmitters and receivers.

This will enable the most intensive use.

But it is expensive and telecom operators are not yet fully committed to it.

Are 5G networks different from 4G?

Yes it is a new radio technology

but much higher speeds may not be noticed at first because 5G operators are likely to use initially as a way to increase capacity on LTE

Long term development to ensure more consistent service to customers.

The speed you will get depends on the spectrum managed by the operator for 5G technology

and the amount of the operator that you have invested in new masts and transmitters.

How fast can it be?

The fastest 4G mobile networks currently offer around 45 Mbps on average

although the industry is still hoping to achieve 1 Gbps.

It is estimated that 5G networks can achieve 10 to 20 times faster browsing and download speeds in real-world conditions “as opposed to laboratory conditions”.

In other words, imagine being able to download a HD movie in a minute or so!

This is for 5G networks designed along with existing 4G LTE networks.

On the other hand, standalone 5G networks

Operating at very high frequencies “30GHz”, can achieve standard browsing speeds.

But it is unlikely that we will get to these things until a few years from now.

Why do we need 5G networks in our lives?

The world is mobile and we consume more data every year

especially with the increasing popularity of streaming video and music.

Current spectrum bands are crowded

which leads to service disruptions, especially when many people in the same area try to access mobile services via the internet at the same time.

5G is much better at handling thousands of devices at once, from mobile phones to sensors, and video cameras to smart street lights.

Will we need new phones that are compatible with the new technology?

Compatible smartphones with 4G networks entered the market before the technology infrastructure is fully ready.

This led to a feeling of frustration among the consumer audience who felt they were paying more than subscriptions to an incomplete service.

Ian Vogue says phone makers are unlikely to make the same mistake this time, launching phones that only support 5G when new networks are ready.

Next-generation phones will be able to seamlessly switch between 4G and 5G networks for a more stable service.

In short, you will need a phone that supports the fifth generation technology, and these phones have become popular these days.

Will this service work in rural areas?

Lack of signal and low speeds for data in rural areas is a common complaint in many countries.

But 5G will not necessarily address this problem because it will work on high-frequency bands, to start at least, with a large capacity but cover shorter distances.

This means that 5G technology will essentially be an urban service to densely populated areas.
