While performing on stage in Florida on Saturday

Said in a statement on his website He was 71

Olney stopped in the middle of the song and paused saying Sorry and put his chin to his chest

Amy Rigby  who was also on stage with Olney also wrote a powerful post on Facebook.


He was very motionless sitting right with his guitar wearing the coolest hat and a beautiful rusty suede jacket

I just want the picture to be as elegant and dignified

as it was because at first it looked like he just for a moment said Rigby adding:

 “We all lost someone important last night.”


David Olney American Pioneer Olney has released over 20 solo albums,

According to his website.

His second album included the song “Deeper Well”, which Emmylou Harris described in her 1995 album “Wrecking Ball”.

Among the others who covered his music were Del McCoury, Slaid Cleaves and

The Wailin Jennys  according to the website.

David was loved and respected by everyone who knew him

including his fellow musicians and many of his fans,”
