On Saturday, the federal government dispatched the Pakistani army and other civilian military personnel to rescue operations in Murri following the tragic deaths of more than 20 tourists who died in their vehicles after being stranded by heavy snow in the area.
The death toll resulting from the death of a four-year-old girl has risen to 23. A minor girl died in Jhika Gali. According to sources in the rescue service, she suffered from a severe cold and pneumonia. She died because she could not be taken to the hospital on time.
Rescue officials said that at least 23 people had died so far as vehicles were trapped in several feet of snow. Later Saturday night, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed confirmed the number.

The minister said that the situation could only be described as a “natural disaster” and “heavy snowfall” in the area. He said that cars were not allowed to move in Murray, so people started to move there on foot and were stopped too.
“We hope to get the situation under control in an hour or two,” he said. According to the minister, the cause of death was “suffocation.” Heavy equipment has been sent to rescue tourists in Murri, according to the State Disaster Management Agency (SDMA). The equipment was also reported to the Nizhnaya Topa area.

In a video message earlier that day, the Home Secretary said the crisis unfolded when Murray witnessed “a huge number of tourists in 15 to 20 years.” The interior minister said five Pakistani army platoons had been called into the rescue, while rangers and a border corps would be deployed in emergencies.

Local residents provided people with food and blankets.” The interior minister said authorities will evacuate 1,000 vehicles by tonight, while roads in Murray will remain closed until tomorrow at 9:00 pm.
